Use the form on this page to ask an immigration lawyer about a 482 visa, a sponsorship or a nomination. Workers and employers can both send an enquiry, and the form takes about two minutes.
What to include
A practitioner can reply usefully when the first message covers:
- Who you are in the process: the worker (or visa holder), or the employer.
- The occupation and the employer’s situation: the job title, whether the business is already an approved sponsor, and roughly how many people it employs.
- Where things stand now: not started, sponsorship lodged, nomination lodged, visa lodged, refused, or cancelled. Give the date of any decision letter.
- The visa held today, if the worker is in Australia, and when it ends.
- Any deadline in a letter from Home Affairs or the Administrative Review Tribunal.
Do not send passport numbers, ImmiAccount passwords or copies of documents through the form. A practitioner will ask for what they need once they have agreed to help.
Who receives your enquiry
The enquiry goes to Australian Legal Partnership Pty Ltd (ACN 656 815 539), trading as Australian Migration Lawyers, the registered law firm for this site, and is read by a lawyer who handles employer-sponsored visas. Advice on your own circumstances is immigration assistance under section 276 of the Migration Act 1958, so get it from a lawyer: an unregistered agent who gives it breaks section 280. Read more about when to use a migration lawyer for a 482 visa.
The rest of this 482 guide is general information and does not assess cases.
What happens next
The practitioner reads the enquiry and replies by email, usually to ask a few questions or to suggest a consultation. Any fee is agreed directly between you and the practitioner before work starts. Sending an enquiry does not create a client relationship and does not commit you to anything.
Your privacy
Your details are used only to answer your enquiry. The site’s privacy policy explains what is kept, for how long and how to ask for it to be deleted.
